Although DC is known for Spring, Fall is my favorite time. As the crisp bite of autumn begins to take the edge off the Summer heat, the locals crawl back out from their air-conditioned haze and wander to the many fall festivals and harvest events that punctuate each weekend. Although it is sometimes planned at the last minute, the Rosslyn Jazz Festival usually happens in mid-September. Here are a few of the fun things to look forward to:

September 11: An Afternoon with Francis Fukuyama — Francis Fukuyama will discuss his new memoir with moderator Damir Marusik, talk about contemporary issues, and interact with the audience in a salon style conversation.
September 11: Friends of Tenley Library Book Sale — Join the Friends of Tenley Library to shop a range of donated titles with proceeds supporting the library.
September 12: Used Book Sale — Shop a wide range of donated titles -- there is something for everyone!
September 12: Mt. Pleasant Library Friends Merch and Book Sale — Every Saturday, the Mt. Pleasant Library Friends sell merch and used books at the Farmers' Market in Lamont Plaza. Their table is usually on Lamont St NW between 17th and Mt. Pleasant Sts NW.
September 12: Used Book Sale — Proceeds will benefit the Southwest Neighborhood Library.
September 12: Fix-It DC Clinic at Shepherd Park Library — Don't Toss It! Fix It! A FREE do-it-together event! A networking event around sustainability and repair
